Join NWA Equality's Rainbow Book Club for a discussion of 'The Price of Salt' by Patricia Highsmith. Set in 1950s New York, the novel follows Therese Belivet, a young aspiring set designer, and Carol Aird, an elegant woman navigating a difficult divorce, as an unexpected attraction develops between them. First published in 1952, the book broke convention by portraying a lesbian relationship with emotional complexity and the possibility of a life beyond tragedy. NWA Equality's Rainbow Book Club meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month to discuss books featuring LGBTQ+ authors, Queer themes, history, and popular culture. After each discussion, the group often heads to a nearby bar, restaurant, or coffeehouse to continue the conversation and spend time together. New readers are always welcome.
